About MennoDaddy

Call me MennoDaddy.

Mennodaddy: In the Flesh

My name is Dustin.  My journey has taken me… really not very far.  I  grew up in Elkhart (Ind.)  I matriculated at Goshen (Ind.) College with a degree in music education, and pursued graduate studies in musicology at Notre Dame University, where I was subsequently employed in the Department of Music.  I have since returned to my alma mater, where I work as a staff member in the Music Department, helping to organize, implement, and facilitate the 40+ concerts per year at the Music Center, among numerous other responsibilities.

I am, in fact, a life-long Mennonite. While Amish jokes abound in my non-Menno circle, and while I have Amish roots on both sides of my family, suffice it to say that you couldn’t pick me out in a crowd.  My politics are liberal.  My ethos is pacifist.  My horse and buggy is a 2007 blue Honda Odyssey.  I have an iPod.  I’m just like you.

I started this blog in 2004 as a personal chronicle of my experiences as a first-time dad when my daughter was born, and as an easy way to keep my family updated with my wife’s pregnancy updates, baby stories and pictures.  I didn’t put much thought or effort into my posting; I never really intended it for public consumption.  Imagine my surprise when people I’ve never met actually started reading it.  In the meantime, I’ve discovered my inner writer and use it to express myself in a way I have never before thought possible.

Welcome to my corner of the Series of Tubes.
