[SCENE: Norah's BEDROOM. It's bedtime. The purple CURTAINS are drawn in the room, and the room is dark except for the BLUE STAR LAMP above the dresser. Norah is in her bed, wearing PAJAMAS. Mama sitting on END-TABLE beside the BED. Several BOOKS are in bed beside Norah]
NORAH: … Mama?
RACHEL: Yes, honey?
NORAH: Can we talk about sharing?
RACHEL: Of course we can talk about sharing.
NORAH: Greta wouldn’t share today. I had those balloons and she TOOK them! She wouldn’t SHARE!
[A sympathetic look crosses Rachel's face.]
RACHEL: Oh, honey. Remember, Greta’s only two. She’s still learning about sharing. She had a little trouble remembering tonight. You have to help her.
NORAH: But why won’t she share with me? She wouldn’t SHARE.
[Brief pause.]
RACHEL: Norah, sweetie, I think YOU had trouble sharing tonight a little bit, too. Don’t you think that Greta sometimes sits in bed with her Mama and Papa at bedtime and asks them about why YOU don’t share?
[Long pause. Norah looks away, thinks.]
NORAH: …Mama?
RACHEL: Yes honey.
NORAH: Can we talk about the curtains?

Does EVERYBODY laugh out loud when they hear this story?
She’s a quick study, isn’t she. That’s a trait that’s usually learned and perfected at a much older age – usually best preformed by politicians.
I was telling Norah that I don’t like to share sometimes either. “Like what, Granna?” Uh Oh. I had to think. Well, sometimes, I said, sometimes I don’t want to share my time. Or sometimes I may not want to share my food–like if somebody asks me for a bite of something that’s REALLY good. Or maybe I don’t want to share my ideas. I was thinking between things so she finally bailed me out by saying, “Oh. I get it Granna.” -jym
